Fly into Fall Kite Festival, The Boardwalk, Fort Walon Beach, FL

Outing Description: What do a 100- foot octopus, 80- foot panda, and a 50- foot gator have in common? They’ll all be flying high over The Boardwalk on Okaloosa Island Saturday, September 24, and Sunday, September 25. If you can’t join the WAPC on Sunday, you can go on your own on Saturday. Join Kitty Hawk Kites and the Emerald Coast Kite Flyers Club to photograph and video larger-than-life show kites and professional stunt kite flying demonstrations.

If you like to photograph people, there should be plenty. Consider capturing facial expressions and excitement as kids/adults watch the kites and partake in the free kite flying lessons.

Where/When: 12:00PM: We’ll meet up at Rockin’ Tacos (upstairs on the Boardwalk) to chat and plan our shoots. From Rockin’ Tacos we’ll get an overhead view of the beach and kites before we start shooting from the beach level. Feel free to leave whenever you are ready.

Directions: Hwy 98 East through Fort Walton Beach, go through the traffic light at the foot of the Brooks Bridge, turn right at the next traffic light. You will see the Gulfairium and Anglers at the traffic light.

Cost: Festival: $0 purchase one!)

Lunch: on your own

(Note: After watching the kites you MAY want to purchase one!)

What to bring: Bring your beach stuff (sunscreen/sunglasses/water) and camera bag. Try different lenses (fisheye, wide, zoom) and filters (CP, split ND…) if you have them.
