After a fruitful visit to Bayou La Batre AL last weekend, I thought it would be a great place for our August WAPC outing! This will also be sent out as a printable document by email. Watch for it!

WAPC Outing:
Fort Morgan/Mobile Bay Ferry/Bayou La Batre, Alabama
Saturday, August 20, 2022 12:00- 8:00PM
Outing Description: It’s an Alabama day! We’ll start with a visit to the Historic Fort Morgan, then hop on the picturesque Mobile Bay Ferry to Dauphin Island and then on to the shrimping town of Bayou La Batre (BLB). Below are the meet up times.
You to have the option to join us at either Ft. Morgan at noon, at the ferry dock at 1:15pm or in BLB at 3:00pm. Please RSVP your preference so that we know who to look for at each point in the itinerary.
· 12:00PM: Meet in the parking lot at Ft. Morgan It is about 1 ¼ hours from downtown Pensacola. Entrance fee $5. Very similar to Ft. Pickens but with its own characteristics.
· 1:15PM: Get in line to take the Mobile Bay Ferry at 2PM. Fee is $18 per car and takes about 45 minutes to get to Dauphin Island. The drive to Bayou La Batre is about 25 minutes.
· 3:00PM-8:00PM: Meet at (restaurant, TBD) in Bayou La Batre. Then we’ll drive along various routes to see active shrimp boats, dry docks, marshland, drawbridge and other daytime scenes. We’ll stay for sunset images (sunset around 7:30) and for those interested, we’ll stay for night shoot reflections. When you are ready to leave you’ll need to go the northerly route to I-10 as the ferry does not run at night. (83 miles, 1.5 hours to downtown Pensacola).
What to bring:
Bring water and snacks as we’ll be spending a lot of time in our vehicles. We’ll have late lunch/early dinner when we meet in BLB at 3:00PM.
Tripod if you will be staying for evening/night shooting.
