Tuesday, November 29, 2022 – Bellengrath Gardens
Outing Description: If you have never been to Bellingrath Gardens “Christmas in Lights”, you are in for a treat! Stroll through a dazzling light display throughout the 65-acre Garden estate. There are at least 15 themed displays such as “Christmas Corridor”, “Under the Sea” and “Mardi Gras”. It takes about 1 hour to do the loop, (but that does not include photography!) We’ll want to start this loop (one-way at night if I remember correctly) right at the Entrance Building. Stop and go as often as you’d like; stay in groups or go solo. Touch base at 6PM in Live Oak Plaza (about ½ way) if it fits your photography break. Keep photographing if that’s what you want to do though! There are drinks, snacks and restrooms available here. Continue your stroll/photography and meet up at 7PM back at the Magnolia Café/Gift Shop at the exit. Their café does have some good cafeteria-style food if you’d like to gather here for chatting before heading home.
The Bellingrath Home is available for tour and is decorated in its holiday finery and enhanced with beautiful poinsettias. I’m not scheduling this with the Outing but strongly suggest visiting during the daylight hours on your own today or another day! Tour the Home during the day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. with tours on the hour. Museum Home – Bellingrath Gardens & Home
Optional bonus: Come early enough to photograph the Cascading Chrysanthemums that are on display throughout the month of November! Hundreds of colorful, four-foot-long cascades of chrysanthemums are hung on bridges and balconies and set out in topiaries, baskets and containers throughout the Gardens. Guests may view thousands of mums in the flower beds in the fall colors of yellow, red, bronze, lavender and white.
